What is SMILE DESIGN?

Smile is the reflection of various emotions that the individual reveals through the structure and movement of the teeth and lips. The main purpose of aesthetic treatments is to obtain a beautiful smile. In smile design, teeth, gums and lips that do not appear aesthetically pleasing are evaluated separately and together, considering the entire facial area. The aim is to achieve as natural and beautiful an appearance as possible.

In which situations can smile design be planned?

  • Broken, cracked and worn teeth
  • In the presence of large, colored old fillings in the anterior region
  • Internal discolorations and hereditary dental disorders
  • In the presence of spaces between teeth
  • In cases where the teeth are excessively short
  • Teeth that are disproportionate to the lips and face (large, long, protruding, etc.)
  • In the presence of deficiencies due to tooth loss in the anterior region
  • In crooked teeth

How to plan a smile design?

In aesthetic approaches, the dentist carefully brings together the patient's wishes and his own thoughts on a common denominator. At the planning stage, both intraoral and extraoral photographs of the patient are taken and models are created by taking measurements from the teeth. The possible result can be shown to the patient by subjecting the created models to some procedures in the laboratory environment and transferring these models to the patient's mouth. In line with the expectations of the patient, a new smile is designed in accordance with the face and lip structure.

What applications does smile design involve?

  • Gingival aesthetic interventions (gingivectomy, gingivoplasty)
  • Teeth whitening (bleaching)
  • Compensation of tooth deficiencies with implant and prosthesis
  • Zirconium crowns, E-max applications, Laminate (leaf porcelain)
  • Orthodontic treatments (aligners and braces)

An impressive, beautiful and self-confident smile plays an acceptable role in interpersonal relations in society.
