Zirconium, Laminate, E-max Crowns

Today, one of the most used materials in aesthetic dentistry is zirconium. Zirconium, which is used as a substrate material, is white in color. With its white color, purple and black colorations caused by metal-supported crowns on the gums are not observed. It is possible to achieve an appearance close to natural teeth with zirconium crowns.

What are the advantages of zirconium crowns?

  • An appearance close to the natural tooth is obtained because of the light transmittance
  • The substructure does not contain dark metal, so they do not cause any coloration in the gums.
  • The thermal insulation is good, so it does not cause sensitivity in the teeth.
  • It is safely used in patients with metal allergies.
  • Since it is a material compatible with teeth and gums, it does not cause an allergic reaction.
  • Zirconium coatings are more hygienic because the microorganism retention on the surface is minimal.
  • It is more aesthetic than metal porcelain veneers

Laminate Veneer Crowns (Leaf Porcelain)

With the advancement of technology in aesthetic dentistry, one of the materials that is frequently mentioned are laminate veneer crowns. Laminate veneers, which are expressed as leaf porcelain among the people, are porcelains with a very thin structure that are adhered to the front surface of the teeth. It is a widely used material in smile design.

Porcelain laminate veneers are aesthetic restorations that are applied with a small amount of cutting or without any preparation, especially in the front teeth, in the presence of enamel defects, tooth discolorations, diastema (separated) and worn teeth.

What are the usage areas of laminate veneers?

  • If there are multiple gaps between the teeth in the front area
  • Teeth with structural deformities
  • Excessively discolored teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • In cases where the midline has shifted
  • Broken, worn teeth
  • In the presence of tinted old fillings

What are the advantages of laminate veneers ?

  • It is a type of prosthesis that protects the healthy tooth surface by making either no or only 0.3 - 0.5 mm of abrasion from the enamel on the front surface of the teeth.
  • Laminate veneer crowns have a very thin structure and since they do not contain any metal, their light transmittance is very high. It is the type of prosthesis closest to the appearance of natural teeth.
  • Thanks to their highly polished ceramic surfaces, staining or discoloration of the teeth is prevented.

E-max

Emax crowns are one of the most natural types of prostheses made entirely of ceramic that do not contain metal. Dental restorations made entirely of ceramic have a lot of light transmittance because they do not contain metal, and they look almost like natural teeth. Due to its high aesthetic and natural appearance, it is highly preferred.

What are the advantages of E-max porcelain?

  • It has light transmittance,so it does not create a matte appearance.
  • It does not cause an allergic reaction because it does not contain metal.
  • Gum alignment is close to perfect.
  • It does not cause discoloration in the gums.
  • It is aesthetic because it is close to the natural tooth appearance.
  • It does not damage the teeth and gums due to the materials in its content.
  • Sensitivity is minimal since there is less abrasion on the teeth for E-max crowns.
  • Since the color options are very many, they are more preferred in terms of aesthetics.
  • Due to its smooth surface, it prevents tartar accumulation.
